Development contract for the wind energy sector approved in Apulia

The VESTAS® Group, a world leader in wind blade manufacturing, has chosen:

• The city of Taranto to develop the new production lines for the longest wind blades of the world (115 metres);
• MENDELSOHN® to be assisted in this project;
• INVITALIA’s Development Contract to facilitate investment.

The new generation wind blades, as the achievement of years of Research and Development, are going to be installed on the turbines V236, known for having signed a new record: 80 GWh of electricity per year.
With over 177GW of installed capacity and 152GW under service, we estimate to have avoided 2,13 billion tonnes of CO2 emissions since 1981*, reflecting Vestas’ unwavering dedication to a more sustainable future.

Thanks to this investment, there will be occupational increasement in Taranto plant.
The investment has been subsidized by the Development Contract held by INVITALIA, through Renewables and Batteries Desk, and the company has benefited of PNRR funds according to section 3.13 Support to investments for sustainable recovery of Covid Temporary Framework. The subsidy, provided as a non-repayble grant, has been 40 million Euros.
